I found this beautiful collection of architectural stonework stacked in an empty storefront in downtown Memphis. The pieces were in storage while the exterior of the building was being renovated. The jumbled grouping of carved stones reminded me of relics from an ancient time, like the collapsed marble columns in the Agora of Athens or pieces of the Roman Colosseum. I’m glad these beautiful ornaments were preserved for re-use on the building.
