Pittsburgh remembers what it was like to be polluted

In his speech to announce he was pulling America out of the Paris Treaty on Climate Change, super-regressive US President Donald J. Trump mentioned the city of Pittsburgh, saying he was elected to represent Pittsburgh, not Paris.

The problem is this: many in Pittsburgh (including the mayor) don’t want to be be associated with this foolish decision. The 1940s-era photographs in this CityLab article show why. Street lights came on in midday because the sky was so filled with smoke and chemicals.
