This was my attempt to make lemons into lemonade. My landscape photography outing wasn’t paying off — midday light was too harsh on the treelined stream I was trying to shoot — so I began looking for alternative ideas to photograph.
That’s when I noticed all the curled pieces of sycamore bark that were scattered all around the riverbank area. I gathered a selection of interesting pieces and brought them back to make still life studies.
I’m not really sure if I like the results or not, but I think it’s important to experiment and consider new ideas and subjects.
