Photographer Keith Dotson to Appear in British/Australian TV Travel Show
July 5, 2025 — Fine art photographer Keith Dotson will appear in an upcoming episode of Griff’s Great American South, a new travel program filmed across the American South, hosted by popular Welsh actor and television personality Griff Rhys Jones, O.B.E. The show premieres July 17, 2025 on ABC Australia and will also be shown on Channel 4 in the UK. Known for his black and white photographs of abandoned buildings, Dotson joined Rhys Jones and an Australian crew of four to photograph a ghost town in the Mississippi Delta.
The travel series created by Sydney-based Perpetual Entertainment, includes six 1-hour episodes filmed in numerous regions of the South, with Dotson set to appear in episode 4, focused on Memphis and the Mississippi Delta. Dotson supplied black and white photographs shot at the ghost town location for inclusion in the episode.
Perpetual Entertainment’s website says this about the show: “Wry, funny, and always entertaining, Griff’s Great American South stares down the cliches and explores America’s secret heart.”
Dotson’s first time filming for television proved to be an educational experience. “I didn’t know what to do. Griff instructed me to speak to him rather than directly to the camera,” Dotson said. About working with a large crew, he added, “I work best behind the camera, quietly and alone. It was a new experience being followed around by a film crew, having my every move recorded. But everyone was really nice and it was a fun day.”
