Colorado’s Center for Fine Art Photography Announces Permanent Closure

Bad news for the world of fine art photography: After 20 years in operation, The Center for Fine Art Photography, located in Loveland, Colorado (near Ft. Collins and not too far from Denver) has announced its permanent closure, effective January 31, 2025. The official announcement gave sparse details regarding the reason, but the bottom line is … they didn’t have the income to carry on.

The Center of Fine Art Photography announced its permanent closure on Instagram on January 15, 2025.
The closure was announced on Instagram on January 15, 2025.

A snippet from the January 15 announcement is pasted verbatim below:

Letter from the Board of Directors on the closing of the Center.
As we reach the end of 2024, the Center of Fine Art Photography celebrates 20 years of exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, and, most importantly, building a fantastic community of photographic storytellers who have become inspirations and friends. We are so proud of the significant achievements reached over the years, with a focus on creativity and community, human rights, and important issues.

We are using this time of celebration to explore new personal and professional horizons. After a difficult number of years with the pandemic and shifting priorities of the Fort Collins arts community, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations at the Center at the end of January 2025. We are so grateful to all the artists, supporters, and contributors who made the Center a unique organization. We could not have done it without you. We are excited for the future and all the possibilities ahead.”

They have vowed to keep their website online for two years as a resource.
