This colonial era cemetery in New Hampshire features many masterpieces of pre-revolutionary war headstone art
From my Walking Old Graveyards YouTube channel:
In this video, we walk around the simply gorgeous Pine Grove Cemetery, established 1654 in the seaside community of Hampton, New Hampshire.
This old burial ground features a large number of old headstones carved with winged skulls, the oldest I saw being from 1700.
A variety of flying head and skull motifs
The tombstones in Pine Grove feature a wide variety of styles of flying skulls and occasionally other types of heads. One even looks peculiarly inhuman, more like a perplexed alien.
