My Riverlore Mansion photograph has quickly become the most popular pin on my Pinterest page
A lot of people seem to be interested in this beautiful old mansion in Illinois. Riverlore was built in 1865 by wealthy businessman and riverboat captain William P. Halliday, who lived in the mansion for 34 years.
The three-story French Second Empire-style brick house has 11 rooms plus a basement. The upper level includes a riverboat-style pilot house and a flat roof from where the captain could observe the two nearby rivers — the Ohio and the Mississippi. An online realty listing shows the old house priced at $250,000, and includes interior photographs of the house, which features certain nautical touches in the decor.

Below is the photograph that’s getting so much traffic on Pinterest. It’s a straight-on view of the house, looking down the front walkway, with slightly unkempt shrubs along the path.
