Black and white photograph of a tattered curtain snagged on the woodwork of an open window on an abandoned house, shot by Keith Dotson
I found this beautifully evocative scene in the downtrodden community of Cairo, Illinois. The vision of this tattered old curtain snagged on the splintered window frame seems both symbolic and suggestive. Sadly, it represents the general state of Cairo at large. In places like Cairo, I find inspiration for photographs and feel a sense of urgency to capture the abundant ruins before they are demolished and lost forever.
