Featured Photo(s) of the Week: Two Views of an Abandoned House

In this week’s featured photo, we look at two views of the same poignant old house, now abandoned

This three-quarter view of the old house reveals more of the poignant story. There are two abandoned vehicles parked under the homemade carports in the back. It looks like someone parked them years ago, and never left again.

This week’s photographs are poignant to me, because they show an abandoned old house found alongside a rural roadside. What’s touching is the two older vintage vehicles — a pickup truck and a station wagon — which have been parked in the carports in the back, and never moved again.

I imagine this as being the home of someone’s grandparents, who drove the cars and maintained the house as long as they could, until one day they parked the automobiles for the last time.

The house is not lived in anymore, but it also doesn’t seem to be in a state of major disrepair either. I think it’s probable that some family members live nearby, keeping an eye on the old home place and mowing the grass.
