Historic tree on a Tennessee Civil War battlefield has been removed

One of my favorite trees, and one that has stood since well before the US Civil War, has finally succumbed to old age and storm damage. I photographed this tree and the surrounding landscape many times, and my photograph “McFadden’s Old Tree,” has been shipped as far away as Australia.

This memorial video (below) explains in about 2 minutes all the reasons this was one very special and historic tree.
