Video of my quick visit to photograph tools in a real, working blacksmith shop
My grandfather had a dark, earthy-smelling, dusty basement full of rusty tools and all kinds of fascinating treasures for a young boy to explore. In my memory, the entire basement was lined with rough wooden workbenches, and those benches were covered in tools, car parts, and all kinds of interesting junk. Since we kids were rarely allowed to go into the basement, it seemed like a rare treat to go in — and I remember asking my grandfather the same question over and over, “what’s this?”
As an adult, I’ve always wanted to photograph collections of rusty tools, and today I got the closest opportunity yet, in a quick visit to this old-school blacksmith shop.
