We had been watching for owls for a few years because Teena had never seen one in the wild
On a recent excursion into a local park for walking and photography, we were distracted from our original purpose by a cacophony of agitated birds in emerald canopy over our heads, followed by the screeching of a terrified squirrel that had hopped onto a low tree trunk nearby. It seemed to be warning us . . . or maybe pleading for help.
But no need for panic or assistance — it was able to hop safely away.
This video shows the sleepy owl perched on a branch, where it groomed itself lazily and rested a while before sailing away deeper into the forest.
