Stranger than fiction: This is a vintage ghost sign of a real 1880s undertaker service found on a wall in Eureka Springs, Arkansas
It’s easy to miss, but high in an alley on the corner of a storefront building at 53 Spring Street in historic Eureka Springs, Arkansas, is the old sign for a historic undertaker service.
The Blocksom & Co. Undertakers and Embalmers was founded by B.H Blocksom in the 1880s. At the time, the Spring Street storefront was the Blocksom Mercantile, with the entrance to the embalming service down the stairs in the alley, and the actual embalming taking place in the back of the building on the ground level of the street behind and below the mercantile (source).
Someone has recently added a black silhouette of the vampire character Count Orlok creeping just below the antique sign.
