Once they’re demolished, it’s too late to preserve them in a photograph
This old barn stood for decades in a field, hidden from the busy road by a screen of trees and undergrowth. I made a mental note to photograph it after it had been revealed by the removal of all the trees by the developer’s bulldozers.
Alas, I waited too long. As I drove by the location today, across the street from a large retail development, I realized it was missing. And then I spotted the pile of old timbers and boards. I hope someone will salvage the usable lumber from that pile of rubble.
I have previously photographed a number of buildings that no longer exist, victims of progress or condemnation.
